Why Arsenal fans really hate Piers Morgan

People retweet him, players talk to him, and others think that he’s the voice of Arsenal fans. More people than is acceptable don’t know why he is so universally hated by Arsenal fans and a lot of those who do know we don’t like him simply think we don’t like him because we disagree with his opinions on Arsenal.

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG.

If you are connected with Arsenal in any way, then you need to know what follows. You need to make it your duty to ensure that anyone and everyone connected with Arsenal knows the truth about Piers Morgan when it comes to Arsenal. Here are some facts for you:

Piers Morgan was responsible, while he was at The Daily Mirror, for printing false reports which resulted in 35 Arsenal fans being branded hooligans and thugs after the trouble between Arsenal and Galatasaray Fans in Copenhagen. Many lost their their jobs and all lost their season tickets.

The truth? These were ordinary Arsenal fans who happened to be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and were simply trying to protect their families as the trouble unfolded around them.

Piers Morgan and the Mirror eventually admitted they had gotten it wrong (eight years later) but they did it quietly. These people are still tarnished with the lies that Morgan printed about them and they are still banned from Arsenal.

All of the erroneous stories are unable to be located on the internet, which is both a good and bad thing. For those trying to explain to others the truth about Piers Morgan we often have little to back our stories up. For now we just have to make do with Piers Morgan’s apology:

This is a man who thinks having people wrongly accused and their lives ruined was a ‘dumb’ thing. Arsenal fans everywhere owe a duty to those falsely accused to ensure that all other Gooners, and new Arsenal players as well, know the truth about this man.

His apologies mean nothing as long as these Arsenal fans are still having to live with the consequences of his actions.

And if you think that Piers Morgan learned his lesson with this Arsenal ‘story’ don’t forget that this is the man who eventually lost his job because he printed fake pictures of soldiers abusing prisoners in Iraq.

Don’t let anyone think he is the voice of our club when it comes to celebrity supporters. He doesn’t speak for me. He never has and he never will.

Piers Morgan is not the first journalist to make a mistake reporting a story, he apologised and admitted he got it wrong, as for Iraq are you suggesting when he published the Iraqi photographs he was aware they were fake? AND who in there right mind thinks he is the voice for Arsenal? I have been an Arsenal fan all my life and I am a journalist as well. The Iraq issue was well beyond him. Almost all the media in the world with maybe the exception of the Middle East media got it wrong. Bush and Blair have been blamed too.

The incident where he apologized in regrettable and unfortunate especially if they are still paying for it up to now.

Morgan isn’t really a true Arsenal supporter. In the book about Thierry, he admitted that he had missed major, important Arsenal games to go on freebie corporate piss ups to cricket games etc. He is a public figure and uses that privileged position to get his views across to a lot of people. He isn’t the only one to spout rubbish though, a lot of bloggers are exactly the same but on a smaller scale. This site is a prime example!!

Brian, the issue with Morgan is that he uses his ‘popularity’ to pass off his opinions as the opinions of the majority of Arsenal fans. If he really wanted to opine the majority of Arsenal fans he would launch a tirade of self-hate. He spoke on American tv about how Wenger should go. If we’re trying to promote our club in America, this clown is undoing that by criticising us to an audience who know little and have his views as their first impression of us. After everything he did at the Daily Mirror, he should have no credibility and his views should only be expressed as his own. As for his apology, it was hardly on the same scale as the original back page news that ruined the lives of many Arsenal fans. If he used his popularity to rectify those issues, maybe we would pay more heed to him. Then again, seeing his smarmy face and embarrassing comments on TV, I doubt it.

I, speaking for myself (obviously), massively enjoy Piers Morgan tweets about Arsenal. Not just enjoy, I think there’s much truth in it. Why shouldn’t he be allowed to give his honest opinion? And he never pretends he’s talking for all Arsenal fans. I think he might be one of the few reasons why Van Persie might stay with Arsenal. Just think so, don’t hold it against me.

I have been reading the blogs on the Denver Post regarding Kroenke and the Colorado Rapids. In the text and comments section it comes across that Morgan is felt to be the voice of the Arsenal support. I have posted there and more of us should, the views of popular support here will not get to Stan through the club , so we have to go to his backyard. Criticise the club where he will get to see it , Gazidis and his merry men won’t too dangerous , they lose their bonuses.

Why wouldn’t I take him seriously? As a dutchman I don’t know him that well. I cannot independently confirm if the information in this article is 100% correct. All I can see is that lines in it that are not directly related to ‘facts’ or things he supposedly did are written in such a manner that suggest outright hatred towards Piers Morgan. That doesn’t necessarily make the so called ‘facts’ presented by the author more believable to me. But it’s not that important to me, what he supposedly did. I just read tweets and things he says about Arsenal and most of the times I just think he’s right. And, him being an Arsenal fan for more than 40 years, I don’t see why he shouldn’t give his opinion. You can always say you don’t agree. Hatred doesn’t produce anything.

I remember when Piers calimed that Arsene had too many Africans on our team. We had three, Song, Eboue and Adebayor at the time. They all come from different countries too. I think what he was really saying was that there were too many blacks on the team. You would never hear someone say there were too many Europeans on the team, rather you would hear someone say there is too many french. I get the impression from that and some other comments he makes that like Geoff from Le Grove he not one for race relations. They may like Thierry as a player but they don’t like his skin tonation. Sad really.

We all make mistakes! He has apologized for what was written! should be end of. Okay people lost jobs and season tickets as a result which might not me entirely because of what was written, but come on! because he is an arsenal fan should he have turned a blind eye and not reported what was there? reporters have to act ant report swiftly or someone nicks your story.
