Jack Wilshere was seen suffering with a hamstring problem towards the end of Arsenal’s game against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.
Arsenal had already made all three substitutions by that point, two because of injury having had to replace Nacho Monreal at halftime as he suffered an ankle injury. During the second half Laurent Koscielny was also taken off after suffering a back injury although that seemed to be more precautionary.
Speaking after the game Arsene Wenger confirmed that Wilshere had indeed suffered a problem with his hamstring however he reassured fans that it was simply tightness and he did not think it was pulled.
He had a tight hamstring, I don’t know if it is bad or not. They tell me it is not too bad.
Arsenal’s injuries had eased off recently but it seems as if that was merely a temporary respite.
Kieran Gibbs is set for a ‘couple of weeks’ on the sidelines with the hamstring problem he picked up against Bayern Munich midweek.
About Monreal and Koscielny, Arsene Wenger said
“Koscielny is a back problem and Nacho is his foot. I think both of them should be available next week.”
