Arsenal are set to give Olivier Giroud a contract extension according to a report in L’Equipe.
The front man is currently under contract until 2016 but this new deal will take him up to 2018 and no doubt come with a pay rise.
Giroud comes in for a lot of criticism from all quarters but the fact is he is considerably better than many give him credit for.
Finding the net 22 times last season as well as grabbing nine assists, his game suffered without the likes of Theo Walcott in the side to run past him.
Signing for Arsenal in 2012, Giroud has scored a total of 39 goals in all competitions for Arsenal, improving his first season tally of 17 by five last season.
He has made a total of 79 starts for Arsenal and 19 sub appearances.
Giroud returned to training after his post-World Cup break in time to travel to Austria with the rest of the squad this week.
