Very little about today and as a result I’ve decided to have a day off so this is an uber-quick blog.
In International news, Henri Lansbury played for the U21′s in Germany and found himself in goal after the England keeper was sent off. He did very well and proved that even an outfield player in goal can make less mistakes and more saves than Almunia.
Shocker.
At least he made it through his international unscathed which means that we are just waiting to hear back about 13 of our players, with two already injured, and one safe, I’m not really liking those odds.
An interesting stat in The Times today talks about how often teams are able to play their best 11. As I don’t pay for the Times all I have is @Marcotti’s tweet which said that Chelsea are able to play their best 11 79.7% of the time, Man United 67.2% whereas Arsenal only field their best 11 61.5% of the time.
What that stat doesn’t tell you is how many players from the best 11 are missing. I’d wager that those stats would be even worse where Arsenal are concerned.
By 10pm tonight we should know the relative state of most of our players and if we’ll have to field the U10′s against the Spuds at the weekend. Going through somewhat of an injury crisis of their own, don’t let the pundits fool you – no other club is above Arsenal this season in the number of matches missed by players through injury. The Spuds might be closing that gap, but we are still very much king of the crocks.
Doesn’t it make you proud?
On that note, I’m off. Told you it would be quick.
