Well, that’s another week out of the way and we head towards another Arsenal-less Saturday. I’m not really complaining, gives our lot a chance to rest up and while I know we didn’t exactly exert ourselves overly against Wolves, at this stage of the season, every extra rest day is a bonus.
Football-wise and it’s FA Cup time. Clearly the only decent thing to do is to support Everton but when it comes to Sunday I find myself, like the rest of you, in a total lose-lose situation knowing that either Sp*rs or Chelsea will reach the FA Cup Final. If I *had* to choose I’d say Sp*rs but only if they were *guaranteed* to lose once they got there and that loss would come at the hands of Everton. Losing the final would be so much funnier but if they get there we do run the risk of them actually winning the thing and yammering on about it as if they haven’t been shit for the past 50 years. Blurgh, how did it ever come to this?
Arsenal-wise and there really is little of note and I’m not overly of a mind to go hunting for made up shit on other people’s blogs. I really fancied a day off today having worked flat out all week and with another busy day ahead, the thought of trawling through internet rumour, speculation and bollocks looking for one hidden gem doesn’t really appeal to me. I know, I know, I should try harder.
Theo was talking to the official site about how he’s a totally different Theo now that he’s not afraid to go in to tackles any more but seeing as he talked about himself in the third person I’m not going to quote him, you can read it for yourself here. I love Theo but people who talk about themselves in the third person should not be allowed the privilege of speaking. Don’t give me that freedom of speech malarkey, people like Fat Sam talk about themselves in the third person, is that really the company we want Theo to be in? No, LadyArse didn’t think so.
See? It sounds idiotic.
Yossi has been talking about his frustration at being a fringe player at Arsenal and I can’t really blame him and, to be honest, I’d rather hear that sort of thing, a player who wants to play, than half of the other crap that can come out of players mouths. He has been trusted in big games this season but not for the so-called lesser ones which is a rather odd way of going about things, but I’m sure Arsene knows what he’s doing. Due to return to Chelsea in the summer I’d like it if we signed him, he’s a great squad player and from what I can gather the rest of the team love having him around. Would he prefer to move down a level to get regular football? Perhaps. It will be interesting to see what happens in the summer.
Speaking about all this in The Guardian he said “I think it is difficult to speak now about the future. It’s better to concentrate on the last five weeks of the season and do my best. I am fully committed to Arsenal and after, we will see. After 30 June, I am going back to Chelsea and then the club decides and I need to decide, also. Each one has to think about what is best for them.
“It has been up and down this season for me. I try to be focused and concentrated but it’s not easy. I was waiting all the time for my chance. A few times, I got my chance and then I didn’t get another for a long time. But in big clubs, you have to be patient. Of course, it’s hard to find rhythm. For every player, it’s not easy. You want to play a run of games but, like I said, it is a big club.
“I have a good relationship with the [Chelsea] owner and when I decided to take this step, he gave me permission to do what I wanted. I was negotiating with three teams but as soon as I heard Arsenal were in, I knew it was a big chance for me. I knew that with Villas-Boas, I would not get enough credit. I have not played as much as I want but it is great to be at a club like Arsenal.”
All fair enough really isn’t it?
That’s your lot for today, let us know in the comments if you’d like him to stay, I’d be interested to hear what the general consensus is.
