First Worst Team In The League Dismantled By Resurgent Arsenal

Arsenal's Santi Cazorla collects the match ball after scoring a hattrick against Reading

Here I come again, the glory hunting blogger fresh off the back of a resounding Arsenal victory.  Whilst winning 5-2 away from home is all well and good, there’s a few negative things I want to discuss before I get into how well we played.

1. I’m not a moody b*stard who likes to do that, I’m only joking.  We won 5-2 for crying out loud, you’d think some people would be happy.

That’s all.

Yes I am going to bask in the glow of this victory against the 20th best team in the League and, like a Brit fresh off the plane in Magaluf heading straight to rays of the beach, I’m going to do it heartily until I can physically take no more.  You can only beat what’s put in front of you and, since I support a team that couldn’t beat Bradford, I’m pretty happy that we were able to put five goals past the 1st worst team in the league!

All joking aside, how pleasurable was last night’s viewing?  Not in a while have I, or any of us for that matter, seen us pass it with such pace and incision in the final third and it should warm the hearts of even the coldest Arsenal supporter to have ‘the old Arsenal back.’  Brian McDermott clearly hadn’t read the ‘How to Beat Arsenal’ textbook and his decision to go with two up front and two in the centre of midfield was always going to play into the hands of this Arsenal side.  Whilst we may not be able to deal with stubborn defending, deep defensive lines and little space, if there’s one thing this Arsenal team can deal with is an open game.  We love that.

Two games won on the bounce, only in the league of course (don’t know if you know but we lost to Bradford last week :/) and it’s onto Wigan away which has fond memories but also some pretty horrible performances chucked in as well.  Wigan are a side who can be sublime one minute, and then an absolute joke the next.   That reminds me of a football team we know.

With the January transfer window a couple weeks away from bursting open before our very eyes, it will be good to go into the away game at Swansea on NYD with some points in the bag and confidence in the players pants.  That’s where the confidence resides, not having confidence in their actual pants of course.  That would be stupid.  I do wonder what type of pants Olivier Giroud wears though.  I’m confident that they’re wonderful, whatever they are.

Hey, you never know, Theo Walcott could yet thrash out a new deal tying him down to Arsenal FC for another 5 years by the time the transfer window opens!  You never know people, weirder things have happened in football.  Hey, remember that time Robin Van Persie said he wanted to win things the Arsenal way…

I crack myself up.

I also love Arsenal,

and I love you too.
